As 2025 draws to a close, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone for their unwavering support throughout the year. It has made a huge difference in helping us take several positive strides towards our goal of creating a better future for everyone living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Corticobasal Degeneration. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Your ongoing support for PSPA has ensured that we are able to be there for those affected by these rare neurodegenerative diseases, including their family members, carers, and healthcare professionals, when they need us the most.

Our achievements

At PSPA, we are proud of our support services and the level of support they have provided to people living with PSP & CBD throughout 2025. For instance:

  • Our Helpline provided vital support and information by answering 1,584 enquiries.
  • We expanded our network to 29 regional Support Groups, which now meet regularly across the UK.
  • Nearly 600 families attended our in-person and online sessions, where they were able to connect, share experiences, and support one another.
  • We introduced and delivered three online Masterclasses, tailored to different professions, which were attended live by 500 professionals, with an additional 725 watching the recordings.
  • We expanded and delivered a new range of resources, including the introduction of the ‘Could it be CBD’ animation, a valuable resource that helps professionals identify key symptoms that has been reviewed by 1,900 professionals.
  • We also created a new reference poster, which can better support patient referrals and is invaluable to healthcare professionals looking after patients with PSP & CBD.

Fundraising achievements

2025 was another amazing year for fundraising for PSPA! Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise £1.9 million through various fundraising efforts.

  • Our major fundraising focus was the Understood research appeal, which aimed to achieve faster diagnosis, immediate treatment, and consistent care for those affected by PSP and CBD through various research projects. You can read more about the appeal and the funds raised by visiting the Understood Fund page.
  • We also got a chance to deliver a BBC Radio 4 Appeal in October, which raised £34,000 and helped start meaningful conversations around PSP & CBD among new audiences. The Understood Appeal, including the Radio 4 funds, has now raised a total of around £1 million for research.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your contribution and support in 2025, which made it possible for us to achieve our fundraising, support delivery, and awareness goals. Whether you have made a donation, shared information, participated in an event, taken on a challenge, or volunteered your time, we deeply appreciate and thank you for your efforts and contributions, and look forward to continuing this important work together in the years to come.

We send our warmest thoughts to you and your loved ones for Christmas, and wish you moments of peace and comfort over the festive period, and strength and support in the new year.
