Ways to Volunteer

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER FOR PSPA

There are a number of ways you can volunteer your time and skills to help support families living with PSP & CBD.

From helping out your local community to answering calls on our Helpline or manning a cheer point at a challenge event, there are volunteering roles to suit every interest and time available.

Keep reading to learn more about the different volunteering opportunities at PSPA.

COULD YOU HELP PROVIDE ONE-TO-ONE SUPPORT?

As a PSPA Link Volunteer you could help reduce the sense of isolation people might feel following a diagnosis of PSP or CBD.

Our Link Volunteer Service offers support to families in their community, as they adjust to a diagnosis, and as things change.

COULD YOU HELP CONNECT FAMILIES AFFECTED BY PSP & CBD?

Our Support Group Volunteers provide a welcoming and friendly environment for everyone affected by PSP & CBD to meet up and share experiences, information and friendship.

The meetings for people diagnosed with PSP & CBD, their carers and family members, are organised by our Support Group Coordinators, whom we support in finding a suitable venue, arranging regular meetings and making sure everyone is made welcome.

Many of our Group Coordinators are supported by Support Group Helpers who help out during the meetings by organising refreshments, sometimes baking cakes and chatting to people who attend.

COULD YOU OFFER A LISTENING EAR?

Helpline Volunteers provide a vital service giving information and support to people calling our helpline service which is home-based during the evening.

Each volunteer is trained to offer a supportive ‘ear’ to callers including people living with PSP & CBD, family members, health and social care staff and members of the public.

COULD YOU HELP TO RAISE AWARENESS OF PSP & CBD?

Do you want to raise awareness of these devastating diseases? Are you enthusiastic and enjoy speaking to groups? Our Volunteer Education role could be perfect for you!

Because PSP & CBD are rare and little known, we have developed this role to raise awareness and understanding amongst health professionals and local communities.

COULD YOU COMMIT A FEW HOURS EVERY NOW AND THEN?

Being a PSPA Micro Volunteer means you can donate your time and skills as and when you are available.  This could be helping to man an event cheer point,  cheering on our marathon runners, or assisting at a PSPA event or reviewing information.

It doesn’t matter if it’s an hour a day or a day a year, you can still make a difference being part of #TeamPSPA.
