We are thrilled to share that your generosity and support for our BBC Radio 4 Appeal have made a real difference, and the appeal has been a great success!
PSPA was featured on BBC Radio 4 Appeal on 19 October 2025 to raise awareness and funding for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD) research. Our Trustee, Jon Garrard, shared his experience of his dad’s PSP diagnosis and the profound impact it had on him and his family. “PSPA was a lifeline for my family after dad’s diagnosis. Raising awareness and funds in his name means the world to me. It’s my chance to help ensure other families don’t have to endure the uncertainty we did.” The appeal aimed to shed light on these rare and complex neurological conditions and ask more people to support PSPA and families living with PSP & CBD.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, supporters, and BBC Radio 4 listeners, and one very kind donor who pledged to match-fund up to £50,000, we are extremely delighted to announce that we have raised £34,057 through the BBC Radio 4 Appeal.
“I am so grateful to every single person who donated. I also want to thank everyone who sent messages of support after hearing my story. Your kindness meant so much, and I’m proud to be part of such a supportive and active community fighting for change.” – Jon Garrard
Impact of your donations
PSP & CBD have a devastating impact on people diagnosed with the conditions, their families and carers. Yet, research around them is significantly underfunded. Through the Radio 4 Appeal, we hoped to reach more people and encourage more donations to fund vital research and help people facing the challenges of a PSP or CBD diagnosis, because more awareness and more research means more hope. Your donations to the BBC Radio 4 Appeal will help us fund research that can improve:
- Diagnosis
- Immediate treatment for a better quality of life
- Consistent care across the UK
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who donated to the appeal and shared it with friends and family. Your support means we are one step closer to improving diagnosis and providing better care and help to people living with PSP & CBD.
While the appeal has now closed, you can still donate to PSPA in other ways and make a difference:
