HOW WE CAN HELP
PSPA is the UK’s leading centre of information, knowledge and support for people living with PSP & CBD and their families.
Our people have experience and knowledge to help individuals understand the conditions and support available to them.
Our Helpline and Information Service can provide a listening ear for you to voice your thoughts, feelings and concerns to. We can also sign post you to useful information and help you to navigate your local health and social care services and provide referrals to non-means tested benefit applications via the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) home visiting service.
In addition, we can work with you to support Blue Badge and Continuing Healthcare funding applications.
SUPPORTING YOUR CARE
As well as helping you and your family after a diagnosis or during a challenging time, our Helpline can also support healthcare professionals involved in your care.
We can provide tailored information for different professionals, helping them to better understand your condition and how they can support you.
Whether the professionals work at local GP surgery, community team, hospital unit or care home, our Helpline team can also deliver education sessions, in-person or online.
Requests for information or education sessions can be made by yourselves or directly by the healthcare professionals supporting you.
“PSPA’s Helpline became a real lifeline to us. They helped me to navigate the local health and social care system following my brother’s diagnosis. They also provided me with a Support Grant to purchase a battery pack for Stephen’s wheelchair to help me get him out and about easily. In addition, the team provided training to the staff to ensure they fully understand CBD and provide the best care for his changing needs.” Kathleen
