Great North Run 2027

Join #TeamPSPA for the 2027 AJ Bell Great North Run!

The AJ Bell Great North Run is the world’s biggest and best half marathon, with 60,000 runners taking on the route from Newcastle to South Shields each year. It’s famous for its inclusive atmosphere, unbeatable route-side entertainment and warm Geordie welcome!

Great North Run magic can be hard to understand – until you’ve experienced it for yourself!

There are traditionally two ballot windows for the GNR:

  • September Ballot: Usually opens right around the weekend of the current year’s event (early-mid September)
  • January Ballot: Usually opens in early January and closes mid-January for final remaining places.

You can sign up for Official Ballot Reminder on the Official Great Run Website

And if successful in the ballot, let us know you’d like to be part of the team by clicking on the button below and getting in touch!

Let us know you have a ballot place and want to run for PSPA!

We also hope to secure more charity places than we’ve ever had before! Between Charity places and Ballot Places we would love to make the 2027 team the largest, and most powerful ever! So with that in mind we are opening applications early!

To maximise your chance of securing a place, be sure to enter both the ballot, as well as applying for a charity place.

Charity places will come at a cost to PSPA, and we ask that you fundraise to a certain amount, in exchange for a lower entry fee. If you are successful in obtaining your own Ballot place, you will have a higher entry fee, however there is no fundraising commitment – you set your own target! Our support to you, if you are running for PSPA, is exactly the same!

Terms & conditions from organisers can be found here.

Together we can improve diagnosis for the 10,000 people living with PSP & CBD in UK.

Our Great North Run fundraisers, whether they be own place or charity place entry, will receive fundraising support when needed, and we are happy to supply you with a PSPA running vest or shirt for on the day.

If you need any additional materials such as sponsor forms, PSPA balloons, flags, clappers, fact cards and leaflets they are available upon request.

Every runner must submit a full application form
Please give as much detail as possible, including any connections you have to PSP or CBD, names of family members, etc, so we can make connections to those already known to us. As our places are limited, do include any information you feel will help us make a decision in granting these places.
Our GNR places have a targeted fundraising amount. This helps support our programs to increase earlier diagnosis, better awareness, and improving the quality of life for those with PSP or CBD, and their carers.
