Ways to Volunteer

From helping out your local community to answering calls on our helpline, there are plenty of ways to get involved with PSPA.

Could you bring people together?

Our Support Group Volunteers provide a welcoming and friendly environment for people affected by PSP & CBD, including family and friends, to meet up and share experiences, information and friendship.

The meetings are organised by our Support Group Coordinators, whom we support in finding a suitable venue, arranging regular meetings and making sure everyone is made welcome.

With many of our group coordinators are supported by Support Group Helpers who help out during the meetings by organising refreshments, sometimes baking cakes and chatting to people who attend.

Could you offer a listening ear?

Helpline Volunteers provide a vital service giving information and support to people calling our helpline service which is home-based during the evening.

Each volunteer is trained to offer a supportive ‘ear’ to callers including people living with PSP & CBD, family members, health and social care staff and members of the public.

Could you help us to educate and raise awareness of PSP & CBD?

Do you want to raise awareness of these devastating diseases? Are you enthusiastic and enjoy speaking to groups? Our Volunteer Education role could be perfect for you!

Because PSP & CBD are rare and little known, we have developed this role to raise awareness and understanding amongst health professionals and local communities.

Could you help us with our office admin?

Are you able to provide administrative help as an Office Volunteer for #TeamPSPA as well as providing a key point of contact with staff, volunteers and the general public.

Most admin work takes place during the hours 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday (although this is dependent on duties required) and volunteers join for some of this time. This role will be based at our offices in Milton Keynes.

Could you commit to a few hours every now and then?

Perhaps you are unable to volunteer on a regular basis but still want to be involved. Why not register as one of our army of Microvolunteers? So what is microvolunteering? There’s a few definitions out there, but the most generic one is ‘bite-sized, on-demand, no commitment actions that benefit a worthy cause’.

For us, this could be cheering on our marathon runners, helping at a PSPA event or reviewing information, to name a few. It doesn’t matter if it’s an hour a day or a day a year, we need you to join #TeamPSPA.

Are you able to help reduce the sense of isolation people might feel following a diganosis of PSP or CBD as a Link Volunteer?
